About the Book

The official companion volume for the National September 11 Memorial Museum…

Conceived only months after the attack, the National September 11 Museum from the beginning faced unprecedented responsibilities and challenges.

It was to be built on 'Ground Zero', the burial ground of over a thousand victims. It had to pay tribute to the dead, explain a still unfinished story and create a 'narrative' that could speak to a variety of current stakeholders as well as to posterity.

When the extraordinary, largely underground site opened in May, 2014, it was hailed by the New York Times as “true to its initial and literally fundamental goal” and “emotionally overwhelming.”

Now, Easton Press is honored to be able to offer the exclusive leather-bound Collector's Edition of the official companion volume to the National September 11 Memorial Museum - NO DAY SHALL ERASE YOU: The Story of 9/11.

“Here we tell [the] story so that generations yet unborn will never forget.”

– President Barack Obama

Through authoritative essays and brilliant photographs, NO DAY SHALL ERASE YOU: The Story of 9/11 documents the museum's astonishing evocation of the attacks and illuminates the urgent ideas and concerns that shaped the museum's development and achievement.

These pages cover every aspect of the museum, from the entry pavilion and winding seven story descent to the massive galleries in the footprints of the Twin Towers through the contemplative memorial to the dead and the main exhibition's almost minute-by-minute multiple-viewpoint chronicle of the attacks.

And the museum's curators offer in-depth looks at key installations and artifacts, relics ranging from massive architectural remnants to intimate personal objects, from public news reports to heart-wrenching private final phone calls.

“Readers, while paging through this book, can feel themselves inescapably transplanted [to 9/11]”, writes The New York Times. “The book is a tribute to those who died on 9/11,” says Publishers Weekly, “as well as a powerful exploration of collective memory.”
